City of Ashes

After reading the first book of the series "City of Bones" I wanted to continue on with the series with the next book, City of Ashes. Normally I would not read a book about adventure fantasy, but when I was picking book for my critical reading class last semester, I was told that this was a great book so I gave it a shot. When I read City of Bones I liked it, it was good at keeping you on your feet and give you many twists and turns that you wouldn’t see coming. Here's a link to reviews both City of Bones and City of Ashes

I know that there wouldn’t be too many guys that would be interested in this book, but I recommend this book to all of them. City of Ashes is a book that is full of action, adventure and a lot of violence for those out there that aren’t looking for a love story, this book would be great from them. Just because this book doesn’t sound that interesting you are in for a big suppose.

City of Ashes begins shortly after City of Bones ends. The main character Clary and two of her friends, Alec and Isabelle are searching for her newly discovered brother Jace who was kidnapped by their ex-guild master how betrayed then in order to be free from the cruse that we put on him many years ago. So the gang heads to the homeland of Alec and Isabelle were they believe that is where Jace was taken.

After searching for a long time they come across a reliable lead as to where their friends might have been taken. It is not an easy journey though on the way they have to fight many demons that almost kill the main characters more than once. When they finally find Jace he is right next to their ex-guild master and Valentine, that main evil person in the story. Valentine starts to take to Clare about her past and what see remembers of it, and then finally admits to Clare that he is Clare and Jace father. In total shock and denial Clary is stunned which forces then to have to leave, but they were able to get Jace out of there in the process.

When Valentine told Clare that he was her father the first thing that popped into my head was that scene from star wars where Darth Vader tells Luke that he was his father, because it was told in the same way.

Knowing that there is one more book in these series I don’t think that there are going to be really anything big in this story, I think that they are just going to be answering a lot of question, and it won’t be until the final book were something big will happen.

  1. Wow. It really does sound "action-packed". Although, it might not be something I would read, I can still reccomend it to my fellow classmates. The picture you used is creepy but it follows the descriptions well.

  2. The title cover of the book looks interesting. I am into novels and movies that have a turn or twist at the end. This books sounds interesting I will put this trilogy on my reading list for next time.
