If I Say

I started a new book call “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman. Here is a link to the book http://www.amazon.com/If-I-Stay-Gayle-Forman/dp/0525421033. The book starts out with a 17 year old girl named Mia was woken up to the sound of her brothers voice yelling “Snow Day” “Snow Day.” Mia was complaining that there wasn’t that much snow on the ground, soon she called her friend seeing if they wanted to practice. Mia is an outstanding Cello player; she has been playing since she was little. Her parents thought it was a joke at first and laughed at her at first and accepted it, she then began to get privet lessons and became very good at the Cello. All the family got into the car to drop Mia off for practice, when they were driving a truck was going to fast and lost control hitting Mia’s car. Mia woke up looked at her and saw that there was nothing wrong with her, she soon started looking for his parents and discovered that they were both killed in the car accident. She then started to panic and run to go look for her brother; she looked in the car and saw that she was still in there.

The beginning of this book reminds me of the story the women who come in for the prom assembly and told us how both of her parents were killed in a car accident when she was younger. I could not begin to imagine what I would do if my parents were to both die in a car accident. You have to be very strong to be able to get through something like this.

The Attack

The next part of the book start to tell use about a civil war that has happened in Wonderland. The civil war was against the “White” and “Black” Imagination which ended twelve years prior to the beginning of the story. Alyss know starting here training with her tutor Bibwit Harte is learning a lot on how to control her powers more, but she is still getting into trouble with her best friend Dodge Anders, also known as the Jack of Diamonds. Before she knows it the castle is under attack led by Alyss’ murderous Aunt Redd. Well the attack was going on Alyss is forced to flee Wonderland with the assistance of Hatter Madigan. Soon after she Flees, Redd sends her top feline assassin only known as “The Cat” to pursue them. Alyss is barely able to escape from the palace. The Queen is killed by Redd and Dodge’s father is killed by The Cat.
If this book isn’t Alice in Wonderland it is very similar, the Hatter Madigan as the Mad Hatter and the cat is that one cat from the movie. This book reminds me of the scene from the Lords of the Rings the Two Towers when the enemy was about to get inside the castle, and they send all the women and children away so they could be safe.

The Looking Glass Wars

I had to turn in Unwind and picked up a new book called The War of The Looking Glass. From reading the back of the book it looked like this book is going to be full of fantasy, and adventure. Here is a link to the book, http://www.amazon.com/Looking-Glass-Wars-Foundlings-Tale/dp/0803731531

The story then begins with the main characters, Alyss', seventh birthday; Alyss is the princess of the Heart Kingdom of Wonderland. Alyss can control and create all sorts of wonderful and terrible things from her imagination. She loves to play tricks on people in the castle and always gets into trouble. Starting her seventh birthday she has to start classes to become more powerful with controlling her imagination. All seemed happy in the kingdom when the end of the chapter is a soldier being killed on the battlefield.

I don’t know if it is but this book reminds me of the Disney movie Alice and Wonderland http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043274/. This book seems interesting I hope that the book will stay with the excitement.

Storked

After Connor, Risa and Lev escaped the police and got out of the woods they went around a suburb trying to get some different clothes to wear. While they are looking around the neighborhood they look at the day’s paper and discover that there is no report of any three of them missing. Soon after the kids spot a police officer, trying to think quick on their feet the kids quickly decide to get on a school bus to avoid being seen by the cop. Right as Conner was getting on the bus he spots a baby laying on a doorstep waiting for someone to pick it up. Looking at the baby Conner feels terrible when he see the baby just laying there and see the people who live at the house who look disappointed and seems like they don’t want it. In a slit decision Conner decided to take the baby with them.
How could someone just give up a baby when reading this the only thing that was going through mind was how could someone give up their own baby to someone that does even want it. I was wondering when Conner took the baby if he knew what he was going to do with it in the long run, will he keep it, find it a good home, or just leave it at some home.

Triplicate

Conner had one were to go he was trapped by the police. Then out of nowhere he runs into traffic were he snatched a kid named Lev from a car to use as a hostage. When Conner ran into the street he made a bus full of kids that were being sent to harvest camps to overturn, when the bus overturned a girl named Risa the perfect opportunity to escape from the bus. With all the chaos going on Conner was able to slip into the woods with Lev and his new companion Risa. It is not long till they realize that they are being pursued by an officer, the cop stops then and they being to fight. It is not long when Conner gets a hold of the officer’s tranquilizer and shoots him. Having escaped the police Conner, Lev and Risa eventually happen back upon society.

I could not begin to imagine what must have been going through Conner’s mind when all of this was going down. First his parents sign his life away now he is running for his life in the woods with two complete strangers.

Unwind

I stopped reading City of ashes because I just pulling me in anymore, and also I heard good things from a book call Unwind. So I returned City of Ashes and picked up Unwind.
http://www.amazon.com/Unwind-Neal-Shusterman/dp/1416912045

The book starts out telling you what being unwound mean. If you were order to be unwound, you would have your organize taken out and just would help with organ donations or medical research. Hearing this I thought that this book was going to be really gory, it still might be but I am only at the beginning so I don’t yet.

The Main Character is a boy named Connor Lassiter a sixteen year old boy whose parents signed the unwind order because of his constant fighting and getting thrown out of several schools. When he found out that his parents wanted him to be unwound he came up with the idea to run away so that he would prevent himself from being unwound. So in the middle of the night when his parents were sleeping he snuck out the back door and run. He ran for most of the night till he came to a truck stop, he came up with the idea to hind in the bed of one of the trucks. So when he saw one truck driver leave his truck to go to the bathroom he snuck in a hind. But it did not work because the truck driver saw him and confronted him. He told the truck driver we he was hiding, and saw that the driver had a fake arm.
“I was in an accident and lost my arm and had to get some new organize, and I got the organs from a kid that was unwound,” the truck driver said.
Because he was saved from at kid that was unwound he wanted to help Connor out of his jam, so he let him sleep in the back on the truck. Connor woke up to the sound of his cell phone ringing, it was his parents, and since he wanted nothing to do with them he ignored it. Then he noticed that the truck stop, he went outside and saw the truck driver in handcuffs and policemen pointing their guns at Connor.

I could never imagine my parents just giving up on me and letting it so the government would kill me like I was nothing. I am glad that this does not happen in real life, this country would be a lot dark place if it was. This does remind me of an episode of Law and Order however. That was about a 12 year old boy that was arrested for raping some of his classmate, and when the father found out, he wonted nothing to do with his kid.

Prison Break

Know that the high leader has sent Jace to prison he has to say his final good byes before he leaves for an unknown amount of time. It took a long time for Jace to get to the prison, and it was like nothing he would have ever expected. When he got there, there was a guard to take him and a touch to bring Jace to his cell. They walked for a while down many flights of stares. When they finally got to the cell the only light was coming from the touch that the guard had brought with him. When the guard put Jace in his cell and started to walk away Jace started to think, but before long he started hearing a noise, the noise started to get louder and louder. With it being pitch dark and not being able to see anything, Jace for the first time, was scared. When the sound got right nest to the door, it all of a sudden stopped, and the door to his cell opened but there was nothing there. Jace walked out of the cell and started walking, trying to find a touch that would allow him to see. That is were the chapter ended with Jace walking around the prison trying to escape or find some answers.

I would never be able to go through the things that Jace went through when he was at the prison. Being in all dark with no noise would be unbearable. Whenever I read a book that has something to do with jail, police or criminals it reminds me of my favorite T.V. show NCIS. NCIS is about Navy cops which I always enjoy watching. Here is a link to the NCIS review guild.

The only problem with The City of Ash is that it started out strong but now the book is starting to get a little boring for my taste. I will read a few more chapters in the book, but if it doesn’t pick up I might get a new book.
